yea..that sounds about right...but it also all depends on where you go to get it done...you should call around local shops and see...

Yea unless your rolling into the high spl comp lane I dont think you would need more than a 150amp alt....

Caps to me are gay....I mean the digi ones look alright, but if I had one it would be for show....not in use. The only use I have seen from it is a little difference in bass....nothing worth 80$ I mean come on now buy a audiocontrol epicenter if you want more bass....or even a cheap eq....correct?

For me though I have a 80amp alt and a optima yellow top....I plan on running 1 jbl bp1200.1 and 2 jbl p80.2? what will I need a bigger alt? rewind mine?

Caps are not made to increase the power that an amp puts out. They act as a second battery. They are designed to have power stored up for peaks in music when the amp draws the most current. I have a cap. Why did I buy it? So I could say that I have one. Just kidding. I got it because I sent an email to JBL and told them that when I turned my subs up loud they would play loud for a little bit, then they would cut out. Once they started cutting out they would cut out more and more often, like the power that had been stored up was gone. THey stated that I should get a cap. I haven't had that problem since, but I also had the 1040 GTO's and I now have the replacement model GT100's, maybe this had something to do with it. An alternator for my car is I believe over $200 for a stock one, so a high amp one would cost a lot more.

Originally posted by Jeremy jl fan Hey Bro...you need to look in the caraudio magazine so you can see the caps being widely used....trust me I have researched it enough....also then why the hell do people waste money on them and why do shops sell so many? I have been told they do nothing up to they make your amp put out to its full capacity....Just wanting to know whats the deal?
why do so many companies continue to sell bandpass boxes? and dont tell me those are good...............

prefab bandpasses are pretty,... and people like pretty thingds... shiny things too....

Caps CAN be helpful... when used properly... so long as the ESR is low enough taht it does not bgecome another load on the electrical system, they can be helpful... digi caps defeat their own purpose... that LED messes everytjing up... when used properly, they are helpfull.... sadly, most people just say get a cap,,,,

hehe, i fall in that category completely. when i first got into car audio, i didn't even know there was a difference between ported and sealed, and i got the first thing that i saw that looked sweet, which was what i still have now, my 2 12" Crunch's in a bandpass box. To go along with it, my lights were dimming even though the amp i use puts out around 200WRMS, very low. so the first thing i thought to buy was a cap, which did help a little, but not like i wanted it to. and now that i have more sense, i wish i hadn't bought either of those and went directly to a 200A alt.

Yeah I've heard that the LED Caps aren't as effective.
