I sold an amp on eBay. My buyer soon thereafter resold it using my listing information. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

Not long after that I get a request for a refund claiming the amp was not working (which I know for certain it was as I had it working on my test bench prior to selling it)

This is how I responded to his return/refund request:

Greetings!

First let me please apologize for failing to reply to you sooner but here of late my internet access has been sporadic at best and I only just this morning saw your request.

Unfortunately I am going to have to decline your request to return this unit for a refund. This is for a couple of different reasons.

First and foremost is my very clearly stated policy of no returns on used electronics as stated in my original auction listing. I know for certain that the unit was in working condition when it left my possession as I was using it on my test bench powering a pair of older Kenwood eXcelon 10s wired together in parallel for a 2 Ohm load. I can see no good reason other than user error why it would be malfunctioning now.

Secondly (and to me the most pertinent reason) is that according to eBay you've already sold this amp! Not only that but for some reason you saw fit to use my listing information word for word along with my pictures in your auction.

I fear that something dishonest is afoot here and I cannot say that I have any particular interest in playing a role in it to any extent.

This is how my buyer responded to my answer:

Well, I disagree with your no return policy. Here is exactly what happened. I purchased the amp from you for my friend that works for me. He had the same exact amp in his truck that was messing up. He put in the amp you sold me and his system was still doing the same thing so he said, hey there is nothing wrong with my original amp he had something else wrong. So he said, Austin, just resale it on ebay so i DID copy your listing (since i know nothing about amps-shame on me) and put the same buy it now price on it. I sold it to a Audio Store in California and shipped very carefully via FedEx. They got it and it wasn't working. So i know the guy Jeff here had only hooked it up in his truck to find that there was nothing wrong with his original amp. Sooo, guess i'm stuck here with this amp that you sold that you said worked, but o well. guess that is what i get for leaving good feedback so soon. I'm not trying to do anything dirty, i just wish your amp worked.

I guess from now on if I'm selling something not only will I take pictures of any item(s) I will also have to shoot a short video of the unit(s) being used to illustrate that they are, in fact, working properly just to keep myself safe.

I bloody well hate dishonest folks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

Da.mn..... I hate them tooo... ghey!!!!!! And the video thing is a good idea. "Bitch that amp worked when it left my possession..." //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I agree with what you did in that situation, Prowler. I would have done the same thing...

Oh and hiya Mr. Prowl, long time no see //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bigwave.gif.16324171cad2db62cf4f16568b038478.gif

I'm calling it not my fault as I know for certain it was working when I shipped it out (because I was still using the durn thing until it sold!). Add to that the fact that I clearly stated in my listing that I offer no return policy on used electronics due to the fact that I have no mechanism for verifying the install capabilities of the eventual end user and I reckon it's pretty clearcut.

Then you factor in that my buyer resold the amp prior to asking for a refund (do you know of any audio stores buying used, discontinued gear on eBay?!?) and as much as I hate to be that way there's no way in hell that I would give a refund.

It just chaps my hide b/c I know I'm a stand-up guy and do not under any circumstances sell something that isn't exactly as described. My integrity being called into question irritates me to no end.

On a lighter note ~ Afternoon, Allstar //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

No returns means no returns, simple as that..... tell the guy he broke it. Be very mater-of-fact when you tell him he broke it, just to piss him off //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
