THE Thread

The only person that I know kinda well that deals in Alpine is Dave O at the Andre's in Kelowna. He would definitely know, but he's a bit too far to just pop in there.

A buddy of mine is tight with Gavin at Visions in Langley, but I don't know him all that well, only through association.

Prowla, that sounds like an awesome plan.. It's really where you should be, so do whatever you can to be there where you belong.. Damm the system all to hell anyways.. We're all on your side on this.. I just wish there was something that could be done to speed things up.. This is all time wasted right now, when you could be with your wife.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
It's a combination of having to deal with the rules and regs of a governmental bureaucracy (sp?) as well as specifically where I'm imigrating from (as Americans seemingly aren't particularly popular when looking at things from a global standpoint)

But I'm not willing to do anything to jeopordize my application so if playing the waiting game is what I have to do then that's what I'll do. It will come in time and I look at it like this:

What's a few months/couple of years as compared to the rest of our lives together? Being separated by half a planet purely sux, don't get me wrong, but at least I get to talk to her each and everyday so certainly it could be worse.

My thanks for the kind words, though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Actually, the condition wasn't as good as I thought... I was expecting immaculate (not unreasonable, as the auction was worded as such), but the front of the unit is in pretty rough shape. The auction itself also said gently used, but I wouldn't call it that. It's got a number of scratches and dings on the front, and part of the Alpine logo is rubbed off. It wasn't fantastically packaged either, not what I would be expecting for an expensive, fragile item.
I'm going to have to think about his feedback. I don't think I'll do negative, I will probably do neutral, but definitely not positive.
Dishonest ppl FTL.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I don't know why they have to be like that.. Did he think you wouldn't notice or something? Immaculate and gently used have a pretty clear meaning to me.. I would expect it to be mint, of course.. Definately bring this up in your feedback.. Maybe it will get him to think twice next time.. You paid large for that deck.. I would have been pissed to pay that much and have it arrive in anything less than mint condition.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

And Im awake again. I need to wash my car today.

Yeah I'm not happy about that, BUT as long as the deck works as if it were perfect, that's what's really important. I will give him credit as he is a good seller, he's got great feedback, and his communication, shipping time were excellent. He also gave me a good explanation as why he wouldn't ship to an unconfirmed address. I might try and discuss it with him before I leave some feedback.

I know Alpine pretty well myself, but I have only ever installed switches for the video bypass, no TR7s yet.. I may pick one up myself to go with my new deck.. The switches are kinda ghetto IMO, but get the job done..

I didn't feel like running the speaker wires last night either, even though it would have been incredibly easy. I just was too lazy to figure out which were the right rear and right left wires and pull them with the power wires. I don't run rear speakers normally anyway so it's no big deal, but at shows and stuff it's nice to have a bit of music in the trunk, and when I get my new gear, rear speakers are going to be included, just for the purpose of having decent rear fill.

Very ghetto, thats why they gotta be hidden haha. Remember like 2 months back we were trying to get my brother's alpine to work? He ended up not usin it after we got it to work. Anyway the point of me sayin that was, whoever gave him the unit had a switchbox made for these switches, it was about the size of 2 wallets, lengthwise, and about and inch and a half in height. and it was wooden, and had two big switches in it, very ugly. And my brother used it for the week he had it in...

No problem.. I feel for you, my brotha from a different motha.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif All I can say is you have MUCH more patience than myself.. I would be going out of my mind.. I HATE wasted time, since it's one thing you can never buy, no matter how much money you aquire.. Life is short enough as it is..

I feel so calm today though, knowing at least that I have the deck and it's in my car and working

The drive to work today was awesome, I love the feeling of having a sweet new head unit, maybe that's why I change them so much lol.

I wonder howlong this thing is going to stay in for? It's going to be a PAIN in the *** to change if I ever have to change it for something else.
