Originally posted by gellis4 I would have kept lifting through hockey season, but when i messed my back up i could barely walk... so i just gave it up so i didn't hurt myself again during hockey season (i did anyways, ****ed dislocated shoulders).. Now getting back into it is emarrasing, i can't lift shit compared to the people i was lifting w/ before, it sucks.

oh, and a guy @ my gym is going for a 700lb bench next monday, kindof impressive if you ask me.. the guy benched 650 for a pause in a meet, state record.

I don't believe him and he probably uses steroids also. Put simply, he's weak; if you're talking bench press that is. If you're talking leg press that is reasonable. 300 pounds is not a reasonable goal for you. Even is you used steroids over the summer, you probably wouldn't get to 300. How much do you weigh? Most people can't lift anywhere near 300 pounds. The difference between 250 and 300 is huge. I know how you feel with your injuries. I was hooked into weight lifting. I would lift around 4 days a week and I was quite strong. I was doing sets of 65 pound dumbels on shoulder press, I was hitting 95 pound dumbels 8 times, I was curling 115 pounds in sets. Then I hurt my shoulders, 3 times. I had a bad shoulder before I started lifting, I have now injured one of my shoulders around 4 times and I'm pretty sure I need surgery to make it normal, but I don't feel like waiting months for the recovery time. Then I got sick. THen I ended up in the hospital and had to have exploratory surgery done, then I had to wait a month before I could excercise and now I'm still lifting light because I get pains where my surgery incisions were. I don't enjoy lifting weights like I used to. I'm so much weaker, I feel like a sissy. Now I'm curling 65 pounds, benching only 70-75 pound dumbells in sets and I'm shoulder pressing around 20 pound dumbells. I'm trying to do my sets very very slowly and I'm just concentrating on form. I recomend this to you. My sets are twice as long as other people because I do them so slowly. Concentrate on the negatives a lot. ONe last thing. THere is a guy at my gym that is about 5ft-7" and he weighs around 160. He is cut up, but big at the same time. His max on bench is 315. What's really amazing is he does his sets slowly with perfect form. He does use creatine (I'm against it) and protein.

************ huh...so what does it do for you? If its what im thinking cant you bang a chick and get the same thing, but twice the pleasure?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
