the right sub and amp matching

k so 400w rms sub.. what kind of amp did you need for nothin to blow up.. did you want an amp thats over 400 watt rms or under 400 watt rms.. i was lookin at this Pioneer Premier PRS-D3000SPL 1000watt rms but would it be okay if i hooked it up to my 400 watt rms sub or would it blow.. im thinking maybe i could get this and set the gain so its not actualy 1000 watt rms??

set your gains correctly and you should be fine.

Ya just set you gain lower. Then again I'm giving advice and I just blew my subs doing the samething.

But I knew I was taking a chance.

I blew my eclipse sw7200 by putting 100 extra watts into it. costly mistake. but just got my new sub in tonight.

ok well i just got anoter kicker cvt so i have 2 now.. so i should look for a 400rms 2channel amp im geussing? that work with 2 ohms... is this correct? if not could someone tell me what kind of amp features/specs types i should look for?

for the gain.. is there a way to find out exactly how much your supposed to set it at.. like to make it 100% accurate, im geussing theres a meter thing?

so if you powered a bitt less watts to the subs it would be okay and if you powered to much its a no no,,, i get it now thanks.

500w rms amp(or higher) + 400w rms sub = No

400w rms amp(or lower) + 400w rms sub = Okay

depends on the sub...audiobahns blow at the RMS for example as RE, FI, SI, and many other companies can take over powering well...My friend has 2 mtx 8512's running at 900 watts rms Just find the median of the sub and use ur ears and knowledge to know if you need to back off.

icic thanks for the info... im just gonna look for 400watts rms x 2 channels... dont wanna mess anything up...... but how do you know how to set the gains accuratly??... whats the meter called?

how do you know the exact rms wattage is being used... i dont think u can tell how many watts rms your amp is running by listnening? unless maybe its one of the gain buttons that tell you how much watts rms you want to run?
