The RIAA is after me........

I'm sure if it boiled down to that ... there would be some understanding //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

whats a "NIC"?
NIC stands for Network Interface Card. A network card is all it is. The reason he needs to detroy it is beacuse it has on it what is called a mac address. Which in a sense is like a permenant IP address and he is unable to change it. It is also trackable.

But you're forgetting one thing. Us mods canNOT moderate the lounge.

Lounge= Canada
Why cant they. Right underneath the link to the lounge it says - Kick back, relax and discuss off topic issues here. Moderated by CarAudio.com Staff. Aren't you guys considered part of the staff.

BTW - DB where is the loser list have not seen that arround in ages.

I need it to be updated. It'll be around. It's gonna be BIG & LONG!(list wise)

I doubt that this thread would ever hold up in court if it came to that. It could be easily modified, he could be making lots of this up for entertainment (just saying, I know its not true), and so many other things.

O.K. guys and gals here's the lastest update......About 15 minutes ago I finished speaking with the people representing the RIAA about a settlement. In the process I found out when and what time they actually busted me. He informed me that on Jan 18, 04' at 10:05 and 18seconds pm the RIAA went online onto Kazaa's site and accessed my "My Shared Folder" in my computer and saw that I had well over 1100 files(songs) that I was sharing with the online community.....

Well I listened to what the gentleman had to say, then he said the 3 things I had to do to make all of this go away was......

1.) Go into Kazaa on my computer and disable the file sharing feature....(Well I've

already wiped that program from my computer along time ago)

2.) Destroy any CD's I may have made from the downloaded music and to delete

all the songs on my computer that I was sharing....(yeeeeah riiiiiight)

3.) And last but definitely not least, the RIAA wants me to fork over $5500

Well I can tell you that sh*t ain't gonna happen, I'll settle but I won't be *****! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/omg.gif.05aa02c3095d6ce9338996654eca0863.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/omg.gif.05aa02c3095d6ce9338996654eca0863.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/omg.gif.05aa02c3095d6ce9338996654eca0863.gif

As he put it to me the actuall act of sharing is in violation of the Copyright Infringment Act. Which basically means if no one was sharing files there would be nothing to download either, that's there current thinking.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

When they first came out with the lawsuits, they charged a guy 98 Billion dollars.....

Then settled for $12,000....sounds like you're not getting ***** too heavily, but I would deny deny deny and replace key parts of your comp so they have no proof.

whoa i just read whole 10 pages of this thread. P2P programs **** as most of the songs you download on there are wrong versions, usually mesed up and so on... I used to use IRC to download anything or dumps I used to have access to. About 2 years ago I got a warning from MediaOne (Comcast now) about sharing movies on fileserver so I stopped and been fine since then. As someone said that EFNET is being heavily monitored, I want to know how so? How can RIAA bust you for downloading from illegally rooted bots? If you want to be extra safe on IRC why not pay about 3 bux/month for a BNC? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I agree with some people that said they download songs of artists they never heard of and buy their cds later. I personally have downloaded many CDs and every single one of them that I liked I bought, the ones that I didn't like I got rid of after a while. About deleting files, I used to have a program that erases each file 32 times but it was taking shitload of time. I would suggest you get another hard drive (find yourself a deal at fatwallet.com) and as far as what you should do I have no suggestions there all I can say is good luck man, and if you do decide to deny, and whatsoever make sure to get that shirt //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The RIAA is after the source, hence the people who are sharing. If there were no people sharing songs then there would be nothing to download. It makes more since to get you sharing 1000+ songs than busting bob for downloading Ice Ice Baby.

This is the same attitude police use when going after drugs. They don't go house to house looking for those who are using they are looking for the dealers, those who are trafficking. If you are unlucky enough to get picked up, what they really want is for you to rat out your dealer so they can go up the line to the source.

If you had 1100 songs and they only wanted $5500 that’s only $5.00 a song. You could be "forced" to pay a lot more if they choose to take it to court.
