The replacement of the Z06

looks nice but i find 0-100mph in 3.5 near impossible... maybe in an auto but no way in a manual. The g's on that shit must push your eyes to the back of your sockets or some crazy shit
Its completely possible, and with a manual too.

Have you ever driven a Z06? Those things are hard to get to spin the tires because of all that danm traction control computer stuff they got on them. They hook up crazy good.
i have not driven a z06...but i still dont believe it until i see it.

heres why:

this car is 600-650 hp (depending on model). the current z06 weights 3130 lbs. this one will of course be lighter...but it would have to make up some 300lbs

ferrari enzo - 0-60 mph: 3.6 sec, 0-100 mph: 6.3 sec, Curb Weight: 2767 lbs

660/427 hp/tq

saleen s7 - 0-60 mph: 3.9 sec, 0-100 mph: 8.1 sec, Curb Weight: 2750 lbs

550/525 hp/tq

mclaren f1 - 0-60 mph: 3.2 sec, 0-100 mph: 6.3 sec, Curb Weight: 2513 lbs

627/480 hp/tq

the kicker is that the mclaren is the closest fit. made completely out of carbon fiber, weighing almost nothing, and the closest it could get from 0-100 is 6.3 secs (as published by mclaren). yes the torque rating is probably a little lower than this new vette, but the specs simply dont match, traction control or not. mercedes makes one the THE BEST traction control systems around.

im not saying this corvette cant do it...im saying im having a terribly hard time believing it will.

Dont forget that the McLaren F1 was made in a completely different era of automobiles (mid 90s) then then current 'supercars'. Also, those 3 cars listed were all mid-engine RWD. So they all have considerably more weight on the rear tires then this new Z06 (or any corvette) would.

true...and my argument isnt the end all either. you cant really just use some specs to see what a new car will do. im really just trying to find cars that can be somewhat comparable in power/weight ratios, so that i can at least guess that it wont do 0-100mph is 3.5 sec

lol

koenigsegg CCX: Acceleration: 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) 3.2 seconds

Dry weight: 1180 kg (2601 LBS)

again, mid engine RWD. but still. i just dont see the vette doing it. as you can see 0-62 in 3.5 secs seems MUCH more likely.
