Wants a button like that.
Some progress has been made. All my Kinetik HC2400s are long gone, and now I have 16 Powermaster 16v batteries in, along with my stock battery and a Kinetik HC16v.
Couldnt get both alts in with a bracket that was home-made, so for now Ill be running a single 16v Powermaster alternator into a Kinetik HC16v battery. The Kinetik is a 12/16v battery, with 3 posts. It takes 16v in, and inside the battery it steps it down to 12. So Ill be running the single 16v alt into the Kinetik, then wiring the Kinetik 12v post along with my stock battery to start the car and run my mids and highs amps.
The batteries under the hood are ghetto as hell, but I crammed them in there in about 30 minutes flat. When I get a chance Ill be building a bracket to hold them together. Right now there are zipties and bungee cables holding them together. Will be fixed soon though.
Not sure what amps Ill be running for mids/highs, but probably something along the line of 3 Crunch PZI 1800.4s and 1 PZI 1400.2, or whatever I can get that does good power for cheap. Something like Crunch, Hifonics, Autotek, Quantum, DB Drive, Interfire, etc. Ill have 16 Selenium ST350 tweeters on a 1800.4, then 2 Eminence Alpha 8s and 6 Alpha 6s on the 1400.2. On the other 2 4channel amps Ill have 4 Eminence Delta 10s each.
All the mids and highs amps will be going on the side of my van where the doors open up. Just spray painted it black the other day, and re-sprayed my windows. Wont ever get opened and all the amps will get hidden, but I think it looks better than it did. Ran the wire the other day, and put the distro block on it, just need to get the amps and the 4ga to wire them.
Each door has 2 10s, 2 6s, 1 8, and 3 tweeters. The center console will have 4 10s, 2 6s, and 6 tweets. On the wall in the trim pannels, each side will have 2 more tweets. Doors will be wrapped in vinyl, console might be painted or vinyled.
Under the car I have a cage with 8 Powermasters, then beneath the amprack I have 8 more. Wired it all up last week, was a total pain in the *** and its such a mess of wire. Eventually Id like to go through and swap out to a real nice thick 1/0 wire and clean everything up. Right now its just a mess of cheap Soundquest wire. I would also like to upgrade my speaker wire. Its some tiny cheap wire from the amps to the subs. Id like to get some nice 8ga wire from the amps into the box, then split it up to 10/12ga into the subs. Doing all this would probably get me a big gain, as Im running all this stuff off 2 runs of Soundquest 1/0 to the back. Also running some cheap RCAs. Those need upgrading too. Kind of sucks when you run out of money and can only afford the crappiest wire/interconnects around, but will be fixed eventually.
Also got rid of my crappy JVC deck a while back and got a Pioneer D3. Awesome deck for playing DVDs and nav, but since my car isnt playing yet, I havent been able to listen to it. All I need to do is build another bracket to get the 16v alt in the stock location (shouldnt be too hard) then run another turn-on wire from the 12v to my remote distro block in the back to turn all the amps on, since I dont think the amps will like an 18v turn-on signal. Anyone know about this? Finally got an Ipod, now I can actually turn the thing up without it skipping.
Still have to reinforce the roof some more. Already has 1.5" of MDF across the whole thing. Now I want to run some 2x4s across the whole top to strengthen it more and possibly take up some cabin space. Then after that I would do a whole new headliner and reupholster it in maybe suede or vinyl or something to match the interior since my whole interior is gray/black and the headliner now is beige. It also looks like *** because my visors broke off and I have big gaping holes where they bolted in.
Another thing to reinforce is the doors. In my sig you can see the videos of the doors flexing. Thats with deadener already in them. Im thinking about just taking the doors off and pouring a TON of resin in the doors. I want to fully resin/glass the whole inside of the outer doorskin to help with flexing. They already have 4-5" long tears in the sheetmetal and it must make me lose so many DBs.
Hopefully when all is said and done Ill have a daily driven van that will play music at 160+. If you actually read all of that, +10 cool points for you. If anyone asks for cliffs that means that they got ***** by their father and their mother is a **********.
