The Official Tool(band) thread

Adam def stepped it up guitar wise for 10,000 days. Not to say his guitar work in the other albums weren't great but this one he def changed his typical style up. Danny is IMHO, one of the best drummers of our age. His off beats and unique time signatures are wonderful.
Danny is on of the best drummers of all time, I'd put him below John Bonham but ahead of Neil Pert for the top 3.

I woul put him over John Bonham but Neil Pert? I'm not sure about that, I think that's a pretty close match honestly. Neil also has a unique style and isn't very conventional in his solos. I think it'd be a good duel.
Hmm, I definitely think Bonham is better, just listening to Bonham's solos and seeing him on their DVD convinces me of this, but Pert while awesome, just isn't quite as good as Carey IMO.

I'd like to officially join the Tool Club. I've been a huge fan for years, and they are hands down the most EVOLVED band to come around since Pink Floyd. The meanings behind their songs spiritually, mathematically, and metaphysically are something that most people don't realize about the band. Only the TRUE fans understand the meticulous deep puzzle that makes them more than just a "listen to rock band," and more over a self-realization process of the entire "Net of Being."

For example, the syllable lyrics and breaks within the beats in Lateralus are of the Fibonacci Number Sequence, and in case some of you don't know what that is, it is a series of numbers starting with 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 (the proceeding number being derived from adding the two previous)....that is found in every organic substance.

When I first came onto this site I appreciated the fact that you always have TOOL concert pics in your sig (2kchevy) and knew that you get it. I'm right there with you!

I totally agree, I love the math and metaphysics behind it, being the math and physics geek that I am, lol.

Yeah I finally came out of the wood work ( had to put on Jimmy to respond). I'm not a musician, but understand some of the magical stimulations of just what sound can do. Going off on a small rant, but if people ever thought just how deep the things we expose ourselves to and the interest we take in the things we do, they would see an entirely different world that they do now. I'm pretty analytical and self analytical, so I can sometimes come off too weird for some, not enough for others.

For instance the appreciation of all us being audiophiles is, I think, something we have all realized that sound, especially bass vibrations, does something do us that we sometimes can't explain to someone else. Sound is the first sense we inherit when we are born and the last sense we lose when we die. I don't want to go to far off on a tangent because I could turn this into a thesis, but will from time to time exert my knowledge into something worth speaking into.

I been a Tool fan since I can remember. I grew up on korn, tool, staind, limp bizkit, godsmack, and others..

I had the oppportunity to see TOOL live @ the Memorial Coliseum here and needless to say it was the coolest sh*t i've ever seen in my life. I had my eyes closed during a couple of the songs and it straight up sounded like the CD was playing in my ears. The smoke effects with the green lasers, the circle things with the lights, and the backgrounds behind the band was just unreal.

And that banner that falls towards the middle/end of the concert is insane. Straight up, insane.

I was toasted on a couple different levels when I went and you best believe if they come around again I will do it all over no questions asked.

Fav. song ever is still 46 & 2. Lateralus = Close 2nd, Jambi = close 3rd.

yeah the laser show was unreal. The videos they play durin the concert is always really cool. Yeah I was happy they played 46&2 as well. If they ever came around again I will go see them a minimium of 5 times //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
Lol same here as many times as I can. It was like a life changing experience. F*cking awesome doesnt even describe the first song.

I couldn't hear for like 3 days either. They had the guitar gain up a tad too high for my ears lol.

I was hoping this was going to be all about Tool //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

I saw them live here in Denver the day before thanksgiving.Best show I've been to. The whole experience was amazing. The videos and visuals were a great addition, the lights were just awesome.

Without question, one of my favorite bands.
