My point is, there is a TON of shitty music out there right now that ranks high on the charts (which doesn't mean shit IMO), yet so many people just eat it up and love it.

Hahahahahahaha, Danny Carey IS the best drummer of our time, no if ands or buts, been named so by so many people its not even funny. As for a diverse drum kit, BFD, John Bonham had a small kit and he could do more with it than anyone else ever could. Winning awards does not make a band good, those awards are jokes, ESPECIALLY any awards from VH1 or MTV, they don't count, and 99% of people in music don't give any credit to the Grammy's either, As for talent, Maynard has more in his dick than all of DMB and OAR and really any generic cookie cutter pop band you listen to combined, let alone Danny Carey or Adam Jones. If you think DMB is more talented than Tool, you are fooling yourself, but no one else.

well usually good music is listened to by masses of people..........every think about that. If it wasnt good why would people listen to it at all?

Ok, some of the biggest bands of the past 10 years, Backstreet Boys, nSync, Spice Girls, DMB, Nickelback, and guess what they all have in common? Little to no talent, cookie cutter pop that the teenies buy up by the masses but anyone who is actually into music ignores like crazy.

I live my life for meaning and purpose but it seems like they do the exact opposite.

Tool is exactly what it sounds like: It's a big dick. It's a wrench....we are... your tool; use us as a catalyst in your process of finding out whatever it is you need to find out, or whatever it is you're trying to achieve
