just an fyi. only a couple jl items are made here in the us. just because it is made in the us does not mean its the best ever. not dissing any company at all.

A lot of JLs stuff is. W3 and up. All the shallows, all the stealth boxs

it is more for spl than sq. i used a huge ported box. almost 4.5cuft tuned to 25Hz for the best performance for what i wanted at the time i used a TA81001 mtx amp that was just under 1900rms @1ohm. sorry no videos since i sold the truck it was in and am waiting until i get a new one. it is a beast sub. if you have heard the older 9500 line then you will know they make some serious bass and this is nothing short of amazing for a 12" sub. i would put it up against almost any other 12 out there today and it will run with them all day. they are conservatively rated at 1200w rms i was told.price is too high though. i got for a special price from a friend. way under dealer price he said.

I would be paying $1,200 CDN... about $900 USD

the DD9512 would run me $1,350 CDN

jl w712 is around $1,200 CDN (amp would prob cost another $1,200 cause I'd have to get from JL due to the 3Ohm)

Because you've heard one, how much would you say a new 9512 is worth ?

And do you have any advice on similar powered 12"s as I plan on running just 1, I want it to be worth it.

Box is a 33"(l) x 20"(w) x 13"(h) ported (4") snail shell box, designed for the original 9500

Mtx hasn't been made in the US in a long time. They stopped around the same time all the other big box brands did except JL
The DD is a huge step up. One of the best if not the best I've had in 25 years. Absolute monster on 2500 plus. Beautiful and articulate on 500 watts

my DD dealer is showing me the 3512 which would be around the $900.00 CDN range.

I'm not entering any comps, but I would like my Terrain to impress, when i turn it up.

The 3500 well 3000 will be my next woofer for the sound quality build. I'm waiting in the 12in to come out with the new basket. So far just 10s and a few 15s.

If you can get the 3500 just do it. You will never look back. Give it a big 2.5cu net ported enclousure and let it sing.

dude 1200 for a DD 9500 is a rip off. you cant justify that price. maybe 800 but not ******* way 1200

It's Canada. That's normal. That's around $800 US

Well sheeeet, seems like DD is the way to go these days.

The 95 might be a bit overkill @ the price point and i don't mind a sub that leans towards SQ so 3512 hopefully works out...

last question, seems like the 3512 and the JLw7 or w6? might be around that same price, which would you recommend.

Yea after the conversion... the taxes and then whatever the dealer makes it gets pretty ridiculous...

The 3500 will rape them in output and be justcas easy to get the required response. It will do everything you tell it to. Low, high, soft and warm, output monster.

IMO it's the perfect daily driver. Just give it airspace, they are efficient and need large enclosures to get that optimum performance. Plus the available custom options. Supercharging to increase motor force, ultra light cones, color options.
