Yeah.. Pretty much how many watts can I run with a 90amp alternator?

Say I have plenty of battery power, and all my wiring is good enough to handle it.

B/c I think it would be hard to find an HO Alt, for an 89' BMW, and I can't do any custom work..

Its not hard.

And I'll be running (for a short time, albeit) a Kicker KX850.4, rated at 120amps current draw max, and my Alpine MRV-1507, rated at 80 amps current draw max. My alternator is also a 90 amp. I gotta upgrade my sub amp, and get a new alternator with the quickness though. My 1507 already draws enough juice to drop me about .4 volts at idle.

my ranger had a stock 90a alt... i ran a zx650.4 and mm3000.1 at .5ohm and .25 ohm (when i had my 18) for like two years before the alternator finally quit on me. i had one yellow top, one hc2000 and a single run of 2/0 pos and neg... my voltage wasn't really that bad either...

I DID run a MM3000.1 off of a stock alt. W. a yellowtop and a BATCAP800... had barely any dimming at all... slammed like hell.. doors flexed, windows wabbled... good stuff man, good stuff... but without either the battery or batcap im sure it would have been bad news.

So, it sounds like I could get a bit of power, if I upgrade batteries and wire.

I have a 1800 watt kenwood running off 100a stock n it does good with out the big 3. I plan on getting a yellow top n running 0g wires to top it off

i have stock alt and regular battery (not yellow or red top).

im runnig ZX750.1 which is givin 900 rms @ 2 ohms to my SW9122

yep. Stock 42 amp alt, 30+ years old and still works great
