You don't want to say it's over until it's over, but if I don't come back, I'll be leaving some really good friends, friends I'll be keeping for the rest of my life. We had great moments we'll never forget. That'll be what makes it tough if I don't end up coming back.
Ed Wade really ****ing pisses me off. I think Chris burke would be badass at 2nd for the astros, but wade isnt even going to give him the chance. He went after Matsui, while good, isnt anything spec****ingtacular. I think burke has the makings to be close to another biggio, but we'll never see that in houston now. I hope whoever does get him makes him a starter, and wade really regrets his decision. ****ing bullshit. Sorry guys i had to rant.

Wade has made no secret of packaging burke with another utilty man for pitching. Now trade burke, and get some ****ing pitching behind oswalt, and dare i say backe who had better do good this year after his surgery.

Bedard Has No Interest In Extension With O's?

According to Dave Sheinin and Barry Svrluga of the Washington Post, Erik Bedard has informed the Orioles that he has no interest in signing an extension. He's under Baltimore's control through the 2009 season.

The authors indicate that Bedard would cost half the talent Johan Santana will. I don't agree with that assertion - two years of a cheap Bedard is easily worth more than one of Santana, without question. If anything, Bedard should require more talent than Santana to pry loose.

According to Jeff Zrebiec, six teams have inquired on Bedard so far: the Yankees, Mets, Mariners, Angels, Dodgers, and Diamondbacks. The Mets reportedly made an offer of Lastings Milledge, Aaron Heilman, and Philip Humber to the Orioles before trading Milledge to Washington, according to the Roger Rubin of the Daily News. A source of Rubin's believes replacing Milledge with Carlos Gomez or even Ryan Church would represent a superior offer. And to further the speculation, I think the Mets would have to replace Humber with Mike Pelfrey to really get the Orioles thinking. I repeat: Erik Bedard is worth more than Johan Santana.

I will fap hard for Bedard //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Bedard is a great pitcher, playing for one of the worst organizations in the league. I can't blame him for saying he won't re-up, who the hell would there?

The Mets could probably pry him from the Orioles for Moises Alou, and El Duque. The O's like old, pricey players.

Johan Santana Rumors: Monday

UPDATE, 12-3-07 at 1:57pm: Rosenthal says the Twins are considering filing tampering charges. The Boston Globe has an update but nothing much new.

La Velle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that the Twins are not amused with Hank Steinbrenner's public comments regarding their negotiations. It's not known if the Twins will pursue tampering charges. Joe Christensen calls Hank's comments "blatant tampering," but admits that he loves it as a reporter.

PWNT!!!!

Hank Steinbrenner Report: Monday

UPDATE, 12-3-07 at 9:13pm: Hank Steinbrenner's tongue was violently ripped out of his mouth by an unknown assailant. While it has not been confirmed, many eyewitnesses are reporting that the assailant was Keith Hernandez's mustache. We'll have more as this story develops.

Mets Close On Erik Bedard?

There's some crazy stuff floating around Mets-ville, let's take a look. As usual MetsBlog is on top of it.

Mets beat reporter Sweeny Murti said on WFAN that the Mets might be close on Erik Bedard. This would be very surprising, because even the Mets' best package could be challenged by a number of teams (unless Jose Reyes is the centerpiece). Plus, why wouldn't the Orioles wait for Johan Santana to be moved first?

Matthew Cerrone also heard some craziness involving a three-way deal with Bedard and Miguel Tejada, but there doesn't seem to be anything to it.

UPDATE, 12-3-07 at 9:41pm: Matthew Cerrone says the Twins have moved on from the Yankees and Red Sox, and are calling other teams to discuss Santana. Tyler Kepner says the Yanks have interpreted the Twins' nonresponse to their offer as a rejection.
