**The MLB Thread**

Baseball is more a solo thing than a team thing. I mean you cant compare them based on just who is on the team.
LMAO

you don't understand baseball do you?

there is a huge advantage batting in front of the likes of abreu/sheffield/a-rod/giambi then batting in front of pudge/monroe/thames/whoever else.

How? Are they screaming at him to hit the ball? I mean I get the whole 3rd base coach giving them signs on what to do. That would be who is the better coach though.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Also Monroe, Thames and Pudge and can add in Inge and Gullien provided a shit ton of offense this year. If they didnt then they wouldnt have won 95 games, correct? They were one of the better offensive teams this year. So really there wasnt that much of a difference. Also Cano and Sheffield were hurt a lot of the year and Abreu didnt get traderd there till later. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

wow just wow.

jeter will get more pitches to hit cause you don't want to walk jeter and have a runner on base when you have to face someone like a-rod or sheffield or giambi or abreu. why do you think barry bonds got so many intentional walks? cause they didn't fear the hitter behind bonds. now put a sheffield or giambi or a-rod behind him and he will not get as many walks. guillen on the other hand, you are more likely to pitch around cause monroe, and pudge and inge aren't the run producers that a-rod and giambi are. also the tigers won 95 games with their pitching staff. they were 8th in the majors in offense, not bad by any means, but not even close to the yankees. it's a shame i have to explain baseball basica too you

Also what is the huge advantage? I mean he is what 2nd in the line up (Jeter) and he had almost 100 Rbi's. How is that an advantage? I could see if he was like 3rd, 4th or 5th in the line-up.
their number 9 hitter had a 340+ batting average and their leadoff hitter is johnny damon so he had plenty of rbi oppurtunities.

I understand what you are saying about those stats. Thing is I am going based on this YEAR, not years from the past. Like I said you had Sheffield out most of the year. Then Cano was out a good portion and I betcha his average would have dropped. Then Rodriguez had an off year too boot. So really Jeters numbers are more impressive this year than Gulliens, Period!

Yeah Icetea, you are so pwning me in knowlegde. Besides the Crawford and Polanco thing, your theory's are whacked!

lol a-rod's year was really bad, only 35 homeruns and 121 rbi's. what about that giambi guy? 37 homeruns and 113 rbi's. lets see tigers cleanup hitter had 24 homeruns and 104 rbi's. only player on the team with over 100 rbi's, and monroe led the team in homeruns with 28.

Was an off year for him. I am surprised you dont get that. Look at his numbers, they are down. Plus he sucked in the playoffs! It was a down year for him.

Yes they had more homeruns, but had shitty *** pitching. If there pitching was good, they would have won well over a 100 games this year. I hate the Yankees. They buy all their talent anyway. I am just saying, that Jeter had a better year and I dont think you or anyone else for that matter should say that Gullien should be ahead of him in the voting for MVP. Personally I think Gullien shouldnt be considered.

lol it's just common sense. i'm begining to think you are being ignorant on purpose

you are not understanding. the award is MOST VALUABLE PLAYER guillen was more valuable to the tigers. i don't care who the **** it is, having a guy hit 35 homeruns and 121 rbi's and another guy hitting 37 homeruns and 113 behind you will make you see better pitches to hit. no pitcher wants to give a free pass to jeter and then have to face a-rod or giambi with runners on base. it's common sense.
