he looks like he should be on a cheech and chong movie for some reason //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
When I first saw him, I was like wtf, when did Posada grow that mess?

Serious note, glad Jeter didn't win it. Overrated in the field, leaves A-Rod to rot in the press while backing up Roid boy Giambi, and hits in the most potent offense in the game.

All I heard from Yankee fanboys was how Jeter should win it because of all the injuries- Cano still played in 120+games and hit .342 for the season, Damon had a good season, Giambi and A-Rod hit 35+hr's and 110+RBI each, Posada had a very nice offensive season for a catcher, and they picked up Abreau, who is one of the best in the league at getting on base.

He played in a loaded offense with help all around him.

finally someone with common sense. you deserve a beer good fellow. jeter's is even a michigan product and i still hate him. when i was at game 3 they would not leave giambi alone. they had an anti-steroids ad on the score board and everybody started yelling giambi //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif then when the tigers were pwning the yankees they started yelling fire millen //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/hilarious.gif.02a037aad04aa96f19982b298a3d70a8.gif

the guy has very little power, lacks plate discipline for a leadoff hitter, 32 walks in 699 ab's, career high of 32 doubles, and when you combine that with his speed you know he has little power, putrid slugging percent, and he really is average defensively, his speed makes up for his deficiencies. not a 9 millions per type player

I have to question your logic here a second. I want to know how Pierre is average defensively? In 6 full seasons he has 22 total errors. He has alot of speed so we know he covers alot of ground. Last year in Chicago he played in ALL 162 games and had 384 total chances in the outfield and he commited 0 errors. I fail to see how that is average.

And by way of comparison just look at what Granderson did last year. By the way, I like Curtis alot and the Tigers so don't think of me as biased because you know I love the Tigers. But Curtis walked 66 times which is more than Pierre but he also struck out 174 times. I wouldn't exactly call that plate discipline for a leadoff hitter either.

i was a little skeptikal at the sheffield deal, but that is starting to look much better.
Ok, so you were skeptical of Sheffield at first and now you're not?? Atleast Pierre played in ALL 162 games last year. Sheffield played in 39. So how is that a good signing when clearly isn't a durable player anymore.?? You can call Pierre average or whatever you want. Truth is he's a durable everyday player who can produce in his own way while being a quite good defensive player. You mentioned he only walked 32 times last year, but you failed to mention he had 204 hits which was tops in the NL and 5th in all the Major leagues. Sorry but your logic is flawed.

^ the discussion of AL MVP is a good one but no comments on Howard beating Pujols for NL MVP honors? Its another showing of individual numbers over team strength.
In all fairness, it is a team sport. I personally NEVER have gave a rats *** about the individual awards in baseball. The bottom line to me is who won the WS. All the other stats are just that, stats.

EDIT: Howard did have an amazing year.

errors don't tell it all. from what i've seen from pierre he gets bad jumps and has poor instincts, but he has speed to recover and make up for it, and don't forget a terrible throwing arm. errors don't tell the story, when you make bad reads and don't get to the ball that is not an error. granderson shouldn't be a leadoff hitter, but atleast granderson can hit the ball out of the infield, and even with granderson's strikeouts and a 30 point lower batting average, he still had a similar obp as pierre. yes pierre led the league in hits but what YOU failed to mention is he also led the league in outs. now pierre is in his 30's and his speed will decline. my comments about sheffield was after what i'm seeing free agents go for, taking a risk on sheffield seems a lot better. also the dodgers have furcal so what are they gonna do with pierre?

I agree about stats are just stats, but when it comes down to who wins the MVP, it should go based on who had the best year, plus who helped his team the most. Icetea thinks that Morneau deserved it becasue he put up hugh numbers( When really they are nothing that great.) and helped his team the most. There where others that deserved it more and one was on his team. Hey whatever, the MVP award is the most overrated award around, period!

While I personally feel Pujols should have won the award, I still think Howard was plenty deserving of it.

Look at his team. They have NO starting pitching whatsoever.

Decent offense with the trio of Rollins, Utley, and Howard, but besides that, there's not much. Lost Abreau at the deadline and Rowand missed a good amount of time. Burrell is just plain inconsistent.

They still managed to finish 2nd the the NL East and 2nd in the Wild Card standings.

Ever heard of a 1- 2 punch?? Also, how many Cubs games did you watch this past year to know he has poor instincts?? Seriously, how many?? If I were a betting man which I'm not I would say you're talking out of your *** once again.

I would start to bet then, cause he does a lot of that.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
