The Red Sox sent Manny on waivers before, where any team could've had him for free. Manny had said once he wanted out of Boston. Boston has actively seeked to trade Manny, even after they won in 2004. Apparently Manny and Boston don't seem to gel together.

do you pay attention to baseball at all? hes a great player but still a moron...he says he wants traded all the time!! i think about every season there is at least a week or two where manny wants traded.....honestly i dont think he really knows english to be honest...probably doesnt know the difference between getting traded or trading baseball cards!!!! again i say HES A MORON HA HA

It's called a strategy man, go look it up. They knew nobody would pay him what they were so he would come back. Also, this was a business deal, it has nothing to do with how well they "gel" together. Manny said after the LCS that Boston was the best place he had ever played.

Yes that's how I know Manny had been traded. Without an extension in place, I do not see why it is so out there to think Boston could trade Manny if they sign A-rod. You'll replace Manny with A-rod, then you can get prospects with Manny.
