Boston had a deal with Texas to send Manny to Texas for A-rod. Boston wanted A-rod to eat some of his salary. The players union wouldn't allow it. Therefore the deal did not happen.

yeah and then manny went on to prove himself as an amazing hitter....you honestly think they would trade him now? only if i knew i wouldnt be able to afford him once his contract was up would i even consider trading him....

if manny put up the same numbers in the playoffs that arod did i dont think they could of beat cleveland....... i mean wasnt it like almost 2 games straight that manny and ortiz got on base every time they were up to bat....thats insanity....

what i think is funny though on most boards you read about how yankee fans say boston doesnt use their own talent...Dustin Pedroia, Jonathan Papelbon, Kevin Youkilis, Jacoby Ellsbury......there is more there and they swear by Joba lol

The Red Sox sent Manny on waivers before, where any team could've had him for free. Manny had said once he wanted out of Boston. Boston has actively seeked to trade Manny, even after they won in 2004. Apparently Manny and Boston don't seem to gel together.
