**The MLB Thread**

looks like i'm gonna have to talk to myself in this thread. after phat said tigers fans didn't post in here after loses, well i'm here after a tiger's loss and phat is not after the white sox got anhilated by the royals

that was a pretty good game, back and forth for a bit
layeland left verlander in to long. his velocity was there. he was hitting 98 in the 6th inning, but he could not command his curveball. he seemed jittery on the mound. don't know if the boston crowd got to him or not. leyland usually pushes the right buttons though. pudge was struggling, so he throws him in the leadoff spot and he gets 2 hits and a walk. resting granderson and clevelen hits a monster 2-run homer.

I've been here the whole time *****. I've got a headache and really don't feel like posting. 10-0. Just when you think things are turning around.

One word. Fatigue.

hmmm his arm didn't seem tired running it up there at 100 mph. plus the curveball was not elevated. he was just missing the plate with it. he kept it down, but he started aiming his pitches instead of just letting it rip

Velocity is not always a sign of fatigue. That pitch to Ortiz was high and on the inside half of the plate. I didn't watch him pitch so I can't really comment. But he gave up 5 runs. I think they were all earned. He gave up 5 ER in his last start. He's getting pitches up and he's getting hit. Just like I said, it doesn't matter if you throw 105 mph, if you leave it high and down the middle it's going to get hit. Only difference is the chances of them catching up to it is a lot less than a pitcher throwing high 80's low 90's.

he wasn't hanging curveballs. they just weren't getting close to the plate. he really didn't get hit hard. that homer by ortiz barely cleared the fence. if magglio didn't miss time his jump, he would've had it. the walks is what did him in. it seemed more mental then physical.

see you didn't watch the game and verlander was not elevating pitches. he walked the 8 and 9 hitters in the 5th with 2 outs, and crisp got ahead 2-0 and verlander threw a cupcake and crisp bounced it off the wall. his problem was walks. 7 walks in 6 innings. he got hit hard twice, the homer by ortiz, wich should've been caught by magglio, and the double by crisp, other then that a couple singles up the middle and walks.
