Yeah I saw he walked 8. I'm thinking fatigue. Not in the sense that his legs are done (which is where you gain a large portion of your velocity) just his arm is getting worn. I read an interesting article today about the art of pitching and what it does to the tissues and fibers in your arm.

i just don't think he had command of the curveball. his fastball looked good however. he didn't look comfortable on the mound. he seemed jittery and out of his comfort zone. his body language didn't show a confident pitcher.

 
They say that every pitch thrown with a velocity of at least 80 mph, puts enough stress on a certain tendon (I think it was a tendon they mentioned) in the arm that it could snap or tear. The arm is not made to throw the ball, in fact your arm creates resistance in the sense that it is trying to keep your shoulder from jumping out of the socket.
