**The MLB Thread**

wait...who does the division winner play?
that link you posted was interesting...esp. the part saying "maybe the sox are showing interest to drive up sorianos price so you guys couldnt afford him" interesting theory.

the team with the best record plays the team with the worst record, unless that team is a wild card team in the same division, so detroit has the best record and oakland has the worst record so those 2 would play each other

Ok, they're very tough pitchers but NO ONE in the major leagues is automatic. They can be hit, its just that they don't get hit very often is all.
The only thing that scares me about those pitchers is that they're strikeout pitchers and the Tigers strikeout alot.

Also, if the Twins sweep the sox and the Tigers sweep the Tribe then you have Minn and Chicago tied for 2nd with Detroit with a 9-1/2 game lead in the cental. Why would you NOT want that?? I mean the sox just traded for a relief pitcher and are about to lock up Soriano so I see no need to keep the sox any closer in the division race then they are right now.

minnesota has great pitching so that is why they are scary.

this tigers team is a lot like the yankees of the late 90's. a deep rotation with no dominant starter, like david cone, el duque, david wells, andy pettitte. good deep lineup, paul o'neal, tino martinez, jeter, berni williams, and role players like tim raines, joe girardi, scott brosious etc. then they had to get the best player available at every position, and high profile pitchers

ESPN is reporting that the Sox are extremely close to a deal for Soriano. I'd prefer to keep McCarthy, but either way we'll benefit.

so soriano will effect detroit's chemistry but not chicago's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

well detroit was able to get dimitri young and didn't have to trade anybody. i think the tigers should trade marcus thames. his trade value is as high as it will ever be, plus you got monroe who imo is a better player then thames

Thames is having a hell of a lot better year at the plate than Monroe though. Thames is finally able to play most of the time and seems to be doing just fine. What makes Monroe so much better? To be honest I dont think Monroe is and hasnt been anything special.
