Alright, well the stock alternator(65 amps) in my 1984 Ford F-150 singlecab just ISN'T doing it. It just LAYS in the charge on my guage and lights dim HORRIBLY. Its obviously about dead. I had autozone test it and with no load she charges nice at like 14.4 volts, but when he added load it dropped to like in the 11's of volts.
So I am in need of a new alternator and ASAP!
I talked to the excessiveamperage feller and amps he has start out at 140 amps and a LOT of bills. I looked at Summit Racing's site and there seem to be a few by Powermaster that I think might work. I am not sure exactly which one I need though, or how big amps wise. I looked on the http://motorcityreman.com/ And they seem to have them priced affordably but are they worth shit?
I have a total of 60 amps worth of fuses between my Memphis PR300 amp and my Crossfire TEK352 amps.
Someone please give me any advice/help/ tell me anything I might need to know. Oh and after I get a alt I plan to soon follow it with a battery. But who do you guys recommend I talk to about this ect ect? I want to hear ANYTHING anyone has to say! And I KNOW the first thing someone is going to reply with is " Get a 200 amp alt..Its all you need blah blah" Well I KNOW I don't need a 200 amper..I do want some extra but my system isn't going to get much bigger than its current state, I can assure you that.
