The Gun Thread.....

i know doesn't me either, Im stating it would be illegal for him to buy. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

CCW isn't that hard in ohio its an 8 hour class and you have to hit a target thats the size of a normal sheet of paper, 20 out of 20 times at 21 feet....
Nope - the class time is 8 hours and the range is 4 hours (give or take, depends on how many people are in the class).

The requirements are 12 hours.

I will get a family pic up soon - but random comments:

- Multiple Springfield's - XD's and 1911's - both great platforms

- Multiple carry firearms based upon situation - clothing - etc.

- Carry firearm rotation contains - Springfield 1911 - Sig P229 - KelTec P3AT - Sprngfield Micro-Compact 1911

- Others worthy of mention - Remington 870 for hunting/trapshooting - Savage Mark II for groundhog disposal - Walther P22 for plinking - XD40 bi-tone with polished barrel - Taurus 9mm revolver (yes you read right, revolver in 9mm)

Hoping to add a Beretta .22 to the list this weekend at the Medina Gun show.

If anybody wants details about the concealed carry laws in ohio - another forum: http://ohioccwforums.org/index.php?sid=5cfa30a80d7ac4e1bfdf48f53776b632

Details on the laws (versus opinions): handgunlaw.us

Good Luck and shoot often.

Local shop has one of the Walter P22. Looked really sweet for target practice around the house. I love the way Walter guns fit in your hand!! They feel like an extension of you hand not a big bulky cannon like some handguns do. Maybe one day after I get my P90 and every other gun out there I'll buy one, lol.

Jon

you are right sir i forgot to mention the 4 hours range time. hey how do you like that keltec thats the next one on my list.

i also own the p22 its a decent gun but its a ***** to clean and its jammed a few times on me.

but for target shooting and practice its a decent gun.

Just got this about 2 weeks ago.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Still no argument, but I wouldnt use them for concealed use.

Or my M44. 7.62x54R //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
If you want to kill your neighbors //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Oh, whew.

Well at least you didnt say .50 BMG
.50? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif , no less then 20mm cannon will do for home defense. Maybe even a 40mm grenade launcher and some pre-placed C4 charges all around the house...just incase, you never know when the zombies will invade.

I know, illegal, but badass. Screw my neighbors, bunch of hillbillies lol.

Nice JN - I had one and (regrettably) did a swap for something else.

Hey Bill - right on about the P22 - truth be told, I had one a couple years ago that jammed often, I cleaned it up and quantified it with the guy I traded to (he is a gunsmith). Fast forward to this past summer and a couple guys from work wanted to go shooting so I picked one up for like 280 at B&T in Middleburg (Rick and Jerry are great guys, they are the only gun shop I will spend money at, most my acquisitions are by trade or private sale). Its a great piece to have for teaching beginners and for training events.

As far as stopping force/ability - keep in mind that Cho and that nutjob at Success Tech (IIRC) used Walther P22 - I say that to say that even a .22 round can be used for self defense. I understand that the .22 round is dangerous because it doesn't just impact and destroy a hole straight through, but it enters the cavity and ricochet's around causing more damage.

As far as the KelTec - I have the 3rd generation (the latest) so reliability has been right on - no failures. It is a handful to shoot, it isnt the kind of firearm that you take to range to spend shells. If you are interested I can (swallow it) and meet you at Royal Ridge on 42 there between Bwick and Medina to let you shoot before you buy?

I have plenty of stories about Royal Ridge as well - I will have to PM you some of the stories later on mang.

Nice gun man. I was torn between the 40 and the 45 for a while but I figured I'd go big and take the 45!

Keep this thread alive, here are a couple old pics of my 12ga collection..

Nice, I like that Mossbeg.

590A1.
Need to get myself one of those. I have the regular pistol grip 500 as my whatever shotgun but those 590's are **** nice.

Still havnt found one with the heat shield locally.
I might get one. Would be great for home protection.

Yea, a buddy of mine has the collapsible stock and pistol grip that would fit it. Tried to buy it off him a while back but never did. The heat shields are very hard to find. Pretty sweet gun, especially for the price I paid //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif:D:D

If I remember I paid $200 for the gun and about 150 rounds of slugs. Local sheriff's off was switching over to AR-15 and were getting rid of the old slug throwers so my dad picked it up for me (he's a corrections officer at the jail)

Deffenetly a good deal!!! I'm hoping to sell/trade it in for my Springfield once I get my permit. Wish I had gotten a second or third one now...lol
