the good stuff

Is there a list here or on another forum that has shows which brand amps/subs are good and which are crap?

I'm sick and tired of searching for amps online and seeing a tiny amp being advertised as 3,000,000w rms at 1 ohm for 99 cents with free shipping. You know they're BS. But sometimes I just don't know if it's BS or not. Sometimes it's not obvious to guys like me who are new to car audio.

I don't want to end up with a Fosford Rockgate, or Kingwood. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

DC, Sundown, American Bass, AQ, Crescendo, Fi, PSI, the list goes on. Do some searching around on the forum before you ask questions.
I did search........and got nothing........hence this thread.

There has to be some kind of compiled list somewhere.

Oh ok, maybe you were just looking for the wrong thing. Thanks for doing a search first at least. There isn't a compiled list, but there is a lot of info on each brand. You might have to dig a little bit, but it's there. You will see the same names keep coming up over and over. Just do a bit of reading, you'll get it man.

There's no compiled list that I know of, but you already know what to watch out for. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Add Volfenhag to that list of crap. One way to tell is to look at the recommended power wire gage and the fuse size on an amp. A "1000 watt" amp with 8 gage wire and a 25 amp fuse is a clue..

^^^This. Obviously that's not fool proof but the fusing and what gauge wire they take can tell a lot about an amp. If you're new to car audio the only thing to really do is research it to death... Do some comparisons and look at reviews.
