The way I look at it, music is music. Some I like, some I don't.Not liking one kind or loving another does NOT make you narrow minded, or boring.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
Give that man a kewpie doll!!
Liking one kind of music or disliking another makes you nothing more than
opinionated.
There is not one single person here that is a regular forum participant, a regular lurker, or someone just having recently become exposed to this little corner of the online discussion board world who cannot accurately be accused of that particular title.
"If you don't like such-n-such kind of music you're narrow-minded."
No,
you're narrow-minded for believing that just because you're into it that I should be as well.
"If you aren't willing to give this genre a try then you're narrow-minded."
No, again -
you're narrow-minded for attempting to force your preferences on other people. There is good reason why there are so many different kinds of music being made which finds success both in the retail world as well as the various underground settings where such things can be found.
Different people have this odd tendency of enjoying
different things!!
I love oldschool Metallica - the stuff that was made prior to the untimely loss of Clif Burton.
My dad, on the other hand, thinks it is little more than unnecessary noise.
Does that make Dad narrow-minded?
No.
It makes him older than me and as such likely unable to enjoy something that simply isn't from his timeframe.
You are more than welcome to enjoy whatever type(s) of music that gets you going.
EVERYONE else is free to do the same don't you think?
