First off, who the **** do you think you are telling someone they are narrow minded or boring because of their taste of music? Or if they have good or bad taste?
The way I look at it, music is music.Some I like, some I don't.Not liking one kind or loving another does NOT make you narrow minded, or boring.Making threads like this, does however. You sir, are a moron. You think making yourself appear "interesting" somehow makes you better than another person, or by some miracle will you get farther in life.

I've realized that it is pretty pointless to say one genre is, in whole, better than another.

Anything that sounds good to me, that I can get into, I like.

The whole reason he started the thread was due to him being offended that people had such large music collections (much larger than his). He just couldn't get his head around it so he decided everyone else was wrong.

Who do I think I am? Someone that uses sense and logic. If that bothers you (which it obviously does), feel free to leave. I didn't say he was a narrow minded or boring person. I said that of his musical taste. And I said it hypothetically: IF all he listens to is spanish music. Are you telling me that only listening to one genre of music doesn't make your taste narrow? First three sentences, right on. Absolutely nothing wrong with that point of view. After that though... I never ever implied or said anything about musical taste and what kind of person you are. All comments and discussion here are limited to music and music taste. Get that through your skull please so we can continue this properly. Better person, farther in life? Do you know how to read? I apologize for being a smartass to you in those replies. I usually try to keep things civil, but when you get all pissed off and worked up, then create shit out of thin air, and put entire ideas in my mouth that I never so much as thought of, I get upset, and things get out of hand. Being passionate is fine, but you should maybe think a little deeper about what it is you are saying, read over posts a little more carefully, before you say it.

You must have been listening too closely to what Pyro was saying. Dude, let me repeat this. Nothing in this thread has, was, is, or will be directed at someone on a personal level or any other level beyond the musical level. I'm not talking about success in life, and not talking about someones narrow or open-mindedness. The only exception to this is when someone either demonstrates their capabilities of forming an argument and reviewing previous posts, like Brock (good) and Pyro (bad). In those cases, what I say is directed and intended for the actual person and his personality/intellect, rather than his musical taste.

 

Are we clear on this? Because I really don't want to have to say again that we aren't talking about how cool or rich we are, or whateverthefuk else about success in life.

Obviously to the first sentence, and I agree with the next. People are free to do whatever they want and music is no exception. I don't give two shits what the next guy listens to. But the purpose of this thread is not to tell people what to listen to, it is to decide whether the participants of this thread think they have good taste or not. Notice I said participants, not Buffalohed. So far though, myself, Brock, and ngsm + faulkton are the only ones to actually contribute any kind of valuable anything to this thread. Sorry if I missed or forgot someone, I probably did. Actually I know I did... whatever.

I actually think you have some pretty good taste, from the little I have seen in a couple other threads, for what it's worth. I actually wrote a really ****ing long and convoluted paper on why rap is actually less of a musical style than other music. Well, it's not that long. Maybe 700 words or something. If anyone wants it, I can probably go find it. It uses a really weird method that I would probably change if I was going to do the paper again, but it is at the very least interesting and thought-provoking if you are intelligent enough to understand it.
