That sub has a 3" 8 layer Flat Aluminum Voice Coil, you are doing something wrong as that sub should handle an easy 3k daily:wow:

this, im willing to bet the box is not right for the sub

I am one of tommys/rio good friend. he even said the box is totally fine. look at my post in the build log says(new box for volvo 960)

all i have is stock alt and kientik batt? and i really couldnt tell ya its loud as a mofo though but its only taking 1500 maxx. deff not the box bc i know the dbs are up in the 149 possibly 150? could'nt tell ya

OP, take the driver you have in your equipment list that you paid a fair bit of money for and redesign the box and customize the install of your vehicle to accommodate your "change" in listening preference.

There is no way changing out a driver will provide anything close to what it is you *think* you wish to achieve.

The best OVERALL sub for daily applications is the old school RE Audio XXX series of subs.
They are great priced, top notch SQ, and 150s were common with them so SPL loud isnt out of the question.

I have ran 2500 rms to mine all day for years from an Orion 2500D and no problems. But I wouldnt recommend anymore than that.

lol....on about anything over 1500 watts you'll get the pretty smoke. I don't know how many people who buy them and think they can take 2000+. Terrible subs for spl.

you're gonna have to buy something like a BTL, Atomic APX, Nightshade if you want it survive for any length of time daily beating.
