That's your problem. Needs to be 6" or less. Mine is like 4" away and I have 2 18"s. 3rd generation explorer.

To close is bad to far can be bad. If you get it right the space will act like an extension of your port and lower your tuning.

I got to thinking about that 5" from a wall thing and i don't want to have my box all the way at the back of my car, so I'd prefer to push it up against my back seats, so this is kind of a built in "side wall"

would it still have basically the same effect?
