The 15A - W7 Comparison

Well, they finally came on Christmas Eve. My two 15A's arrived. After spending a little time last night and this morning I hooked everything up. 2 15A's, a Tsunami 1800T, and a ported box 5.1 cubes total and 4.4 after displacement tuned to 28 HZ. I plougged everything in and turned on the car for the first time and popped in the new Big Boi CD Speakerbox. The first track has a good range of nice tight high and low notes.

Wow //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/omg.gif.05aa02c3095d6ce9338996654eca0863.gif First of all after not having bass for about 4 months it felt great to turn up that knob and have some bump back there, but I was amazed at the extreme tightness and clarity of the subs. The volume was very low and the Sub Control on my heard unit was only about halfway up, but every note hit so crisp it was stuning. I really did not know what to expect with 15's as far as tightness goes, but these things kept up with every note.

I then went to the next track, #2, which has some very very high and fast notes. Well, this is where the subs began to show its true capabilities. They hit the high notes, but not too loud, and they hit every note very crisp, just not as loud as other deeper notes. This, however, is what I expected, for I got 15's for the extremely nice low end (and ill get to that later //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ). My friend has one 10" and it did hit that certain note a little better, but i still dont think it was as tight sounding as the A.

Then I got to the good stuff, I switched to Tomb of The Boom, number 11 I believe, which has some extremely low hard hitting notes. And ****!! This is why I got 15's. My whole body and car started shaking, and the volume wasnt even up half way. Then I popped the trunk to look at the subs, and what??? They were barely even moving! I couldnt believe it, they were only moving about 2 mm. Was it something I did wrong in the install??? So then I decided to check the gains.....Holy shit these things were only 1/4 of the way up. So I inched it up to about 5/8's of the way up. OH MY GOD. I thought someone just punched me in the chest. Everything in my whole garage started shaking. I went inside my house and my whole house was shaking. A Chins plate even fell off the hutch, no joke! ****, I was amazed at the extreme SPL capabilites of these *****es. Then I popped in some rock, Lincoln Park, and little Beatles and Finch, the sub hit all the notes nice and crisp. Although I have to say I think ti sounded better with rap.

I couldnt be happier with the sub except for one thing, when your in the car you cant hear it, but standing behind the car when the trunk is popped a slight rattling sound comes from one of the subs I think. Kinda sounds like a metal sound, but the subs move just fine, any suggestions???

Anyway, now to compare it to the W7. First of all, Its much tighter than the W7. The W7 had excellent SQ but was often loose on several notes. However, I would say that the 15A had equal or better SQ than the W7. Also, it got much higher than the 13W7 which did not get very high. The low end is a toss up, both of them hammer the low notes. And as far as SPL goes...well, I guess a 13W7 ported with a 1000/1 isnt a fair comparison to two 15A's, but needless to say the 15A's are easily about 3X as loud, which is louder than I can stand for about 2 minutes. I couldnt be happier except for that **** slapping sound....but anyway Ill post picks. Hope this was interseting/helpful to you guys.

Hmmm...worth the wait? Yeah I guess, I mean Im happy I have them but if I had to do it all over again and knew it would take over 3 and half months I think I woulda gone elsewhere, but these thigns are amazing.

finally we don't have to hear you whine anymore about it..:p

see, me and so many others were telling you that you'd be awestruck by it...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I've got a single 15A and I think it's already overkill.

Haha hell yeah I jsut gave ym box a new black paint job with acrylic paint, and **** that thing looks badass now. Ill get more pics as soon as possible

well glad ur happy. 2 15's with about 2000 watts would is way to loud for me.
Well to each his own, but its nice knowing i can have my music as loud as I want without haveing my gains up all the way. And plus its loud enough that I dont ahve to fold down my backseats which works good for me.

Hah but it is pretty loud, last night I broke my brake light in the back of my car because the subs made it rattle against the glass so hard....just glad the glass didnt break

I love the way that eD subs look, just look at em sitting pretty in the trunk.
Hah yeah, Ive had like four kids come up to my car and be like, "are those screens over your subs?!? , or "dont those things on top of your sub casue distorition". Then im like, ummmm, thats the sub. When will people learn the awesomeness of the flat cone
