Test tone question!

Okay i was reading about subaudiable tones in this thread.

It got me thinking that that would be a good way to hunt down rattles, if all you heard was rattling. Are there any test tones in this range? Also is there a chance of damaging my subs? (2 10" type-Rs in a sealed box)

Rattles would happen at the "rattling" component's resonant frequency. These are usually within the audible range IE 20hz-20khz.

As Beat said....you would need to play test tones that excite the panels the most, and those will likely be within the audible range of frequencies.

Yes, it's possible to damage your equipment with these. The lower the frequency, the more excursion that's required to produce a given output level. Playing them at a moderate volume doesn't run much risk....playing them at high output levels does.

Yeah but im stationed in Germany and with all their **** noise laws there isnt too much in the way of car audio stores much less a best buy.
