Test stand: Trying to turn on avn6600

I want to test my AVN6600 before I place it in the vehicle. I have never installed a Nav system, so this is a first. I am thinking that it should be similar to any other double DIN radio install. To test systems in the past I used a 120V to 12-14V DC converter and connected the const 12V and acc. 12V wire to the + and connected the ground wire to the - side.

I can't seem to get this avn6600 to come on when I do this. The unit starts making some mechanical sound as soon as I connect the Acc. 12V wire. It sounds like if you had a cd mechanism constantly skipping. So the unit will not power on but keeps making this sound. Is there something I am missing? Are there other wires I have to have attached for this to turn on? Such as the VCC?

I really hope it's not a dead HU. I have waited long enough just to get the darn thing shipped.

Well, all the wiring was correct. I found what the problem was. Apparently, the power supply unit I had was not putting out enough amps for the Nav system to function. I plugged it all into a battery and it all seems to be working now! WooHoo
