well a friend dropped off a alpine cda-7977 headunit and i wanted to test it out but my car is at my dads being repaired. i need to test it so i can pay him if it works

i was thinking if people hooked up car amps to pc power supplies couldnt i do the same with a head unit? red/igninition to 5v? yellow to 12v yellow.. ground ....but what about the remote lead and illumination

Assuming it is an ATX power supply, using the 20 pin connector, connect the green and black wire(s) to ground, and the yellow wire to the switched, constant, and remote leads. Ignore the other leads.

so hook up the yellow 12v wire to the 12v. along with the ignition and remote lead?

i already did the green/black connection to make the psu turn on
