Well now I'm very curious because the Fi Sp4 is what I really want lol. How much larger would the box have to be?The idea that any particular sub/speaker "needs" X power to work correctly is not true. Typically if you feel that you need more power A.) You wanted more then what your setup can provide or B.) Your enclosure and/or settings are creating an issue with the amount of output generated.
Now, does this mean that you can achieve maximum potential from your sub/speaker with 1/3 of the rms rating? Not likely, but it will perform very well and allow you the ability for upgrading the future. Just ensure the design of the enclosure is geared toward efficiency. The down side here, is that if you apply more power down the road the need for a new enclosure may arise as enclosures designed around efficiency do not like to have large amounts of power ran through them do to several various factors.
