tell me how bad this raping is...

oh well... i just talked to my friend whose a mechanic and he said he would have expected around 600 for all that...so i actually dont feel too bad....now i got most of my bases covered as far as basic upkeep, maybe a manual ****** fluid replacement at around 75k miles....

how often should i do an oil change on one of these ls2's?

That would have cost me whatever my dad gets at his cost and me doing it on his rack, which I am not supposed too, but always do, unless he isn't busy, then he does it for me. Just depends.

I am taking in my wifes car this friday to replace the struts, 1 wheel bearing, shocks and rear rotors and pads............... 150 bucks, and me doing it..........probably quite sometime, depending how busy he is.

You don't drain and replace fluids on the differential of the GTO. Or late model F-bods either. They don't use gears. They use a wearable pressure disc setup. You run em until they quit, then replace the rear end with a rebuild.
are you fucking retarded? every differential, i dont care if its FWD, RWD or AWD, they all use gears. you may be thinking of the posi unit...

If they charged him for this then they owe him money. You can't do this to a GTO.
again, are you fucking retarded? i suppose youre going to say that you dont need to change engine oil now too huh?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I had no choice but to get new front brakes at Midas for $320. I knew it would cost like $40 if I did it myself but my breaks went out and it just happened to happen right outside midas. I couldn't go anywhere else.

Ok this would be my breakdown on the whole job . My labor rate is $61.00...pretty cheap .

Oil change - $ 85.00...6qts of mobil1 full syn. and mobil1 filter . Includes topping off of all other fluids

Tire rotation $ 15.00

Rear end fluid drain and install full syn. fluid and limited slip

$45.00 for fluids and 1hr. labor -$61.00

Total- $106.00

Belts - $50.00

Belt ten. - $75.00

Labor for belts and ten. $61.00

Total- $186.00

Interstate battery and install $100.00

My total $492.00 Pretty close //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

What did they actually fix for that price ? They tend to bone people pretty bad .

there is no way to drain and replace fluids in the rear diff in a GTO?
I think he meant there is no need to do so
Well you can, but it is made for you not to. That is why the thick grey type fluid. The manual states it doesn't need to be changed. If you have a factory warranty still on it, then don't change it.

You are retarded. They make them maintenance free from factory with the type it is.
I was told by my dealer that if I changed out the stock fluid on mine, that the warranty on that part was void. I am only going by what my dealer and manual told me. I wasn't going against their word on a brand new $30k+ car.

As for the gears, I must have been thinking the posi unit. I am not a total gear nut, my posts to him are from what I was told when I inquired about the rear end during my routines to the dealer. Some wrencher on the net may think it is OK to do this, but when it came to my expensive purchase I was trusting the one who warranties it.
