tell me how bad this raping is...

yeah, if you can at least change the oil, belts, and battery yourself you will save alot of money.None of those are difficult to do either provided you have the necessary tools.
Then comes the inconvenience of storing the old oil and taking it somewhere to dispose of. All hassles, all BS. I gladly pay the minimal service labor. for routine maintenance like an oil change.

i would have done the battery myself but at this point the car is there already and the battery was no good so im not gonna go buy one and tow the car home without a battery to put it in myself

isnt a new battery alone more than $100
depends.

i dont think i could or would own a vehicle i couldent service myself.

cool thing is girlfirends dad has a tire mounter and balancer in his shop. rotated the tires and re-balanced them yesterday, just had to pay for the wight's.

Oh. That makes the situation a lot different.

Heres everything broken down:

oil change with mobile one synthetic - $50

tire rotation, fluids, new oil filter, etc - included in $50 oil change

full rear differential service (drain and replace fluids) - $50

belt replacement (serpentine belt and AC belt) - $120

AC tensioner replacement - $120

new battery - $80 for the cheap shit, probably interstate or similar

Should have been around $400 for everything seperately, well under $400 if you would have made a deal to do it all at once (AC tensioner and belts go hand in hand, less labor)

You overpaid but not by a lot. Ive heard worse stories out there. Remember to research and bargain next time.

and yeah, if you did everything yourself, it would have been around $120-$150 in parts, and three or four hours labor if you know what you're doing. Keep in mind that the shop buys wholesale, they probably spent around $80 for everything. thats normal markup.

If they charged him for this then they owe him money. You can't do this to a GTO.
