Teflon sheets inside sub box = louder?

So many people swore to me that I'd gain if I applied resin to the inside of my box and sanded to a nice smooth finish. I spent a week sanding & polishing that shit to a smooth finish and it gained NOTHING!

because you sanded the wrong way!

But I bet it is purdy!

same here... I then just used a regular wood sealer that soaked into the wood completely, gained like .3db from that on the T.L., 45*s got me another .3-.4, wet sanded the inside of my PVC aeros up to 2000 grit and gained like .1-.2 then braced it and gained something like .3-.4 after messing with box placement I gained about another .5

All in all, about $10 and 4 hours of work I gained almost 2 full dB... Those numbers aren't exact for each thing but we did it one at a time, testing between each thing. We used a 34hz tone, and clamped the power each time and it was always within 10 watts. I know I started at 148.1 and ended at 150.2 on 3500~ watts. The only other thing that could have effected it was adding the corners would have taken a bit of box space and thus lowered the tuning a tiny bit but if anything, I think that would have hurt a little.

Adding the corners would raise tuning which would've helped a little, so tough to say whether the gain was from higher tuning, lower box volume or better airflow from the 45's.

You are correct, my bad... instead of just subtracting volume, I added port length for some reason... Also, come to find out that my ports where actually separated about 1/2" or so. Duct Tape just didn't hold the ports like I was thinking. Going to have to upgrade to rubber sleeves and clamps, or just more duct tape...

I guess that throws a lot of my "testing" down the shitter.... As now that is a variable that I didn't think of and I have no clue when the ports separated. Could have been before, during or after so who knows... I would say the box placement, bracing and sealing are the only things I can say for sure helped...
