they are a great SQ sub, i would not run a W7 in anything other than a box of JL specs.

yea, i was just thinking about it . i already have built 4 enclosures fo them@ 28 32 (jl spec box) 38 and 45 hz.. They sound great but from what i hear the tcab is good as a wide bandwidth enclosure and even tho the w7 s never sound "bad" mark told me i will gain 3 db at an octive lower than the enclosures i built,, Idk , i just hear the hype and i dont wanna say tcab is not good or differentif i never heard them. W7 s are not to loud on the mic 148.1 @ 44 hz with 2 1000/1 s and 149.3 @ 52 hz.. But there almost untouchable low end.. I also have 2 re sx 12 s that hit 148.6 off the jl amps as well so i was nt to impressed with all the re hype either ... But now i no, i built re spec boxes and other s from a program (termpro and bass box ..?? i think ) and it did nt perform as good as the w7 s basically in anything especially low end below 40 hz .. Anyways, i just want a lil feed back on what to do , try em or forget it and never no if 3 db is as easy to get as just payin 250 bux for a box .. i think there round there.. but on a tl, 152.x would be impressive as all hell for w7 s .. thats y im trying to get the most i can out of the jl s

how does mark know how much louder his box will be than yours? i wasnt even aware tcab made non type-r enclosures. man those are some big balls though to be able to say "jl doesnt know which box will work best for the w7, i'll make you a box 3 db louder." isnt 3 db supposed to require double the power without changing boxes, and sound 1.5 times as loud? cmon man.... if you've built 4 enclosures, pick one lol.

Nothing against Mark. I like the guy, and he builds a hell of a box. But more than once I've seen him list something as "one full octave lower", when it's simply not.

yea did nt think id get a positive response, but i was just checking with ppl to see. Like i said im not gonna talk mad shitt about a box i ve never heard, thats a lil shady but i ve heard of good thing s about the boxes, especially if ur gonna use r's .. then i think id dish out the $ ... but as dor now i ll be trying to find the right enclosure and tuning to get the dub 7's at 150 for music.. I think i got my work cut out for me but thanks for ur replys , . And he knows more then JL? Interesting. If I were you I'd get a JL box, they're as good as it comes. They're obviously within JL's specs, so your warranty will be there.
With the tcab box, most likely you will not be within the warranty. So, while he's trying to show off his 3deebeez at an "octave" lower, your subs are blown, and you have no warranty.

1) Regardless of enclosure, if the sub blows, it's the users fault not the enclosure.
2) I've never seen a manufacturer only "warranty" certain enclosures. As long as you operate the woofer within it's thermal and mechanical limits, there is not threat of losing your warranty.....and the subwoofer won't blow.

yea i dont think i ll have problems with blowing the sub, but as far as enclosures go i think for daily the best overall box i built was jl s spec box, 3.6^3 net tuned to 32 , it is really nice and since it was jl s box i thought it would be pretty **** good for the subs , cuz the more u go off of jl spec the sq drops and u loose alot of frequencys due just to the fact that w7 s are so picky with there enclosures .. i did modify jl s spec a lil bit i just made the box 1 inch deeper and the port length 1 in smaller and added rounded corners in the box and port, by using some 1x4 , resined the box and painter the port s black to match the carpet.. i just wish the dub7 s had a lil more output at higher tones , they play so smooth it s impossible to get them in the 50 's on the tl unless i really just wanted to design a box around 50 hz

jl s tech guys are really helpful as well for u on box designs and any questions u have, i wanted to build my own design so i did a few , talked to steve at JL and said well, try this , he plottted out a box for me and said just try this one , if u dont like it tell me what u think it needs and or is missing , i built it and it sounded great, Not to take away from RE cuz everytime i called them theyve always been real cool about that stuff too
