TC sounds tc9 $189/$219

ok, this sub is a less expensive rl-p correct? same spider/voice coil. tc says 18mm xmax, however rl-p's are 24 mm xmax....I want a rl-p 15" but would like to get a tc9 15" for less....am i getting the same sub?

Like i have stated in a prior thread...It is not inferior, but more of a preference. I personally dont like how rl-p's sound, however i love my copper coil tc9's...

The TC-9 has a copper coil...It general lowers the Fs of the driver which will in turn make it play lower.

i also noticed the tc2000 does not have a copper coil, but has a lower fs than the tc9

Yes they will be similar in movement. Other factors come into play when doing T/S specs..Thats why i said generally. You should notice it has a higher BL product tho. Also, the tc-2000 has a copper shortening ring which im sure makes the difference in the Fs.

not quite

The TC2k has softer 10" spiders (vs. 8.5" on the tc9) that lower the Fs even though the Mms is lower. A shorting ring has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Just get the RL-P and throw it in a ported box. You'll be happy as it's a great sounding sub that will get loud when needed.

I'm VERY happy with my 2 15's, especially now that I have to electrical to supply the sub amp. Hits even harder now and I was plenty impressed before.

It will be interesting to see what happens between TC and SS in the future regarding products. Despite the attempt to keep things unique and separate they sure seem to be butting heads regarding price/performance/design/features/etc.
