I have googled and searched, but i want a fresh compairson of these subs...

I will be wanting to but ~500 w x1 @ 4 ohm....in a ported box....

12" db 500

12 TC-1000

the specs tell a little of the story. The 1000 has more xmax, and it's qts is smaller, which means it can be in a much smaller box. If size of box isn't an issue, the 500's are nearly half the price.

As long as you feed it good power bout 500w like you said, and it should outdo what you have nicely in both SQ and SPL.

Wall-mart sells cheap boxes. But they are cheap, like really cheap. Your better off just making your own if you can. 20 bucks in wood and maybe another 10 in supplies isn't that bad. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

If neither of those someone on these forums can make a box for you, they just aren't always cheap.

Lowes or Home Depot will cut the pieces for the sizes, just make sure they cut them accurately unlike mine. And then all you need is glue and a jigsaw to cut the hole, at least one of your friends is bound to have a jigsaw. And if not, a prefab sealed box isn't always bad, especially if your looking for only 1 cubic foot or so. If your looking to port, don't get a prefabed box though.

The good pre-fabs are rare, however there are a couple sites online that sell alright boxes, but mostly because they are 1 or 2 people making boxes to certain specs. Not all that pre-fabbish.
