I'm just posting to discredit your sources and yes. The 5000's will be the best subs going using the 4HP motors. New features include:
New, and more expensive voice coils using titanium formers which eliminate eddy currents and resonance to reduce distortion. These new coils really make the subwoofer sound a lot cleaner.
New tall, highly compliant rubber surround. More durable than form and its only 1" thick to maximize surface area and it’s tall so it won't cavitate under extreme excursion. This will improve the efficiency of the drivers.
New spider spaces, we have increased the distance between the spiders to improve lateral stability, and there remains 2.5" of clearance under the suspension for a full 5" peak to peak mechanical excursion.
All new tooled cone. We having changed to a single piece brushed aluminum much like the rest of our products. This is ultimately the most lightweight and rigid solution expect for the carbon fiber cone we use on the SMT. But the Al cone allows for cooling of the coil and it looks a lot better than paper (wink)
Increased the amount of aluminum in the gap to reduce inductance even more.
Improved the detachable disassembly feature we currently use for our 4HP motors.
For the LMS-5400.. all new dual 2 ohm LMS voice coil, the worlds first dual linear voice coil.
Increased the size of the motor to accommodate 4 magnets each 10" wide. We remain one of the few build houses that can even magnetize magnets that size.
The only reason I can think of that people would think these drivers are inferior is their price. I do realize they are under priced for what they compete with, and we’re still grunting and bearing about it because we don’t want people to get the wrong idea about our products. I know for a fact there is no information out about our subs other than what’s on the website, so I have to assume our prices are dictating how you appreciate the worth of the driver and if that’s the case, I’m sure we’ll be more than happy to accommodate higher prices.
