TC Sounds 5200 owners or past owners I have a question.

You can crunch the cone by bottoming out also. The 4hp is a pretty powerful motor so much inertial energy is built up and with enough power if the coil was to bottom out the moving mass of the cone would folder over the former thus causing the imprint. You can't mistaken a bottoming out it makes a decently loud door knocker sound and the end usually crushes in onto the pole piece and locking up, usually. I like the 4hp because it usually requires a small enclosure and I really don't want to switch right now. If I was to get it reconed is there a cone out there to stand up to the abuse? I was looking into a DD composite cone but in know way was I welcomed with open arms. I don't know what the big deal is over a cone/surround... ANy input is welcom...
Polo..
we have composite cones if you like, but i wouldn't recone it unless it completely breaks.

here is what they look like

pressed fiber glass over acrylic rohacell bonded with epoxy resin... extremely strong and extremely light. Its what we replaced the thin AL cones for our pro audio woofers (like the one in snoopdan's picture) with.

What I'd give to be in that warehouse for 20 minutes alone //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif:D

You and me both! Could I get a surround to go with it and if so what kind? Feel free to drop a pm if you wish..

Polo.

Well its a bit late but on my 5400s I took the motors off and drilled several small holes in the formers to vent them. A little over kill due to only using a Tru SH-1 on the pr but didn't want the cones looking funny when it hits the comp lanes.

that was probably not a great idea, weakens the former, and the motor is already vented. If you are hoping to prevent damage to the cone, this wont help at all.

Kyle......I hope yur pricing on yur products are better than b4....I'd love to continue to run yur subs but the pricetags are killer
Sure, we understand that low cost drives sales, but we will remain a distribution and dealer driven manufacture. We will feature a lot of new technology otherwise not offered by other mfrs. If the prices don't change there will at least be significant improvements pertaining to performance. I hope the final prices are lower too, we have been taken great measures to improve driver product costs.
