Tc Sounds 15 5200 Help!!!

ok just put this sub in the car tonight

in trunk

sounds like crap!!! i know my amps arent the best but i know for fact it should be louder than what it is.It is barely ratleing and to be honest my 2 re sr 12's were louder.I know this cant be right

i have 2 earthquake 2000/1 d amps one amp per 2 vc's this subs is a quad vc sub have the subs in a almost 3 cubic feet sealed box

subs wired like this

neg to pos then neg and pos to vc and then the same on the other 2 cv's

this sub just isnt dropping and hitting like it should? i have no clue

i am beggining to think my radio is the problem lol i have a pioneer 5700dvd

but i doubt it.

any help please!!!!!!!!!!!

check your wireing, you have a set of coils wired the wrong way...

imagine each speaker as a voice coil, wire it like this

make sure you have everything wired in phase(+ to + and - to -)

also, running that sub sealed is a waste of a huge motor.

I just installed mine today, thang pounds hard as hell. 4.25 @ 36hz w/ 70 inches of port.

yea well i dont know crap about how to make a ported box i can make a sealed box but i dont know how to tune or anything.

well man i got it wired right i got pos on one vc to neg on other vc then pos on one vc to amp then neg on other vc to amp.

i just dont understand i mean trust me if you heard this you would be like wtf? even in a sealed box it should still get halfway loud lol like i said my 2 re sr 12's got louder than this and thats nuts.

Even in sealed it should be crazy! It should blow the RE's outta the water. I had the same problem and I just had one wire messed up, so it sounded like wood hitting together yet the sub was still moving alot.

im a little confused by the way you're wording it, but i think you got your wires mixed up still...go over them carefully with the first pic i posted..pull the sub out if you have to and retrace everthing

I can get mine out tomorrow for you and take some pics of the wiring if you dont get it solved til then. I have mine wired for 1.3 ohm...

hey guys i guess i caught one of the wires while trying to muscle this beast into the box lol.

anyway still not as loud as i had hoped but i need more power what amp do you guys run? i dont have alot of cash i can trade these in on a us amps 4000 watt amp? i dont know much about them amps so i am kinda scared to jump out but i think 2 of them will push this sub harder than these 2 amps i have now?

You are putting a driver with a Qts of ~0.15 into a sealed box! I don't even have to model this out to tell you you're probably down 20 to 30dB by the time you hit 30Hz... You have no bass. The only way to correct this is to use a massive amount of EQ and power, we're talking 20dB boosts in the low and that is what you need to do who attempt to seal a 4HP like driver. No normal car audio amp is going to hold a candle to that kind of EQ, you need other equipment. Otherwise put that driver into a 4th order box and you'll get everything back in the low end and some. It will likely be peaky down there in a ported box. The 4HP's don't need large ported boxes, in fact there is no other driver that can work in a smaller ported one in existence, so space should still not be a problem... making the port large enough to prevent compression... very difficult and i can provide some suggests for that, but you should look into a 4th order system.

now, as far as wiring, I'm not sure i understand what your doing, but here is most common way to wire a quad, the 5200 was something like 1.2 or 1.4 ohm vc. so this will give you a final load of exactly that number.

I had two on a Hifonics Colossus on each channel and it was disturbingly loud. People say they need 4000 or so, but thats totally wrong. I couldnt even turn it up all the way because my drums were vibrating too bad. I just cant take all that bass anymore...

while that is true, i dont' think the 5200 would do too well with a sealed box, unless it is god awful huge used for HT.

Correct. Have you looked at the parameters of the 5200? It shouldn't be sealed.

I believe you still have wiring issues as well as enclosure issues. This just shows that install is every bit as important at the equipment used. I bet in the right hands, this setup could be louder, play lower, and sound better with 1/4 of the power.
