Tax changes in CA

Ca. is now making you report taxes on internet purchases made outside of the state. You have to add all of your purchases together and then multiple them by the tax rate for your county. Do we have any tax eperts in here? I have a friend that made online purchases outside of the state but he hasn't kept track? If he puts down zero does the CA state track what purchases he made outside of CA. Like does the internet business have to report (to CA govt.) the person as making a purchase from their site and the amount?

I must agree. They're just making poor people like me get poorer. I can't even go out on weekends without first figuring out if I have enough money. Thank God I have parents or I would be out on the streets right now. I can't even afford housing let alone food and housing. Schooling better payoff otherwise I'm ending up in another state. Like I've said I live in the richest ghetto in Ca., or better put I live in the richest ghetto in the world.

Any way for those of you that live in Ca. I asked about it and I heard from someone that there is not need to write down how much you spent online outside of Ca. So this is what I'm going to tell my friend. It turns out I guess everyone is writing down zero. If Ca. wants to get money out of this they should force the online companies to collect the tax for them and then have the companies send the money to the state afterwards, not expect the people of Ca. to collect taxes for them.

who gives a **** about taxes, I VOTE DBFAN for best avatar! hahahahha
I do especially with how expensive it is for things before including taxes where I'm located, along with the fact that the government doesn't know the first thing about budgeting so it just steals more of my money. It's nice to hear that you are doing okay money wise.

This should be interesting.

I'd like to see how California plans to enforce this.

The amount of time and money that it would cost the California Government to research, and obtain proof of internet transactions for every single resident in the state would be astronomical. I'd bet significant parts of my anatomy that it would cost them a lot more to do this than they could re-coupe in tax revenues relating to this matter.

In short, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I'd have no reservation at all to marking 0.

This is pretty much the answer that I got about this. People are putting down zero because 1. they didn't keep track 2. It's not their problem that the government hasn't setup a system for figuring out how much people owe in taxes.
