tantrum 1200.1?

This is not something that i plan on doing, but its just something that i wanted to know about the phoenix gold tantrum 1200.1. What would happen if i wired a subwoofer at 8 ohms using a dual 4 ohm subwoofer? would the amps still give out 1200 watts or less? Or would it be better to just wire it at 2 ohms even though it will give pretty much the same power as it will be at 4 ohm? thanks

Alot less than1200W if you wired at 8 ohms

The thing about it is that i remember reading that the tantrums were like the jl slash series where it gives out the same amount of power at every ohm. What I'm thinkin about doing is getting a 13 ov2 but i dont know whether i should get a d2 or d4. because i have a tantrum 1200.1 and a rockford fosgate 4080 4 channel amp. right now I have a pg ti10 svc sub bridged on the rear channels of my 4 channel amp. If i buy a 4 ohm dvc sub then i can hook it up at 8 ohms and hope that my 1200.1 give out between 500-800 wattts. would this be correct?

can you guys give me some recomendations of a solid amp that puts out 500-800 watts at 2 ohms? I was thinkin about a jl audio 500/1 but those are a little too expensive. im lookin for an amp somewhere between 200-300. I was also looking at the alpine mrd-501. but idk...please give me some recomendations. And i dont want it to be hifonics or jbl....thanks alot

Why would you want to wire a sub in 8 ohms ?

Im guessing that the amp you want needs to carry a name that has a certian value.

The only reason i asked is because i didnt want to give the sub too much power and mess it up thats all. But then its not somethin i actually plan on doing. I'm still learning and asking is the only way to know right? thanks

The Tantrums aren't, it's the new Xenon series that are like the slash series JL. And they only put out the same power between 1-4ohm, not 8ohm (and the JL is 1.5-4ohm)

The tantrums make max power from 2-4 ohms. Im sure they make it at 1 ohm, but they arent 1 ohm stable.

i am thinking about getting the tantrum 1200, what is it rated at, i went to the phoenix gold site and it said 1400x1 @ 4 ohms? i thought is was rated at 1 ohm?

1200x1 at 2 ohm (birthsheets are usually1350+rms at 14.4v)

dont feel like lookin up stats, but i do no it makes all its power a 2 ohm's
