Ok, so here's the deal. I have a 93 cherokee with a shaven tailgate. I used a fiberglass panel from a work van/truck and used the 3m body panel adhesive that mixes in the gun (can't remember the number...its the expensive black stuff) and bondoed over that. It's been a while now and I'm getting a crack all around the edge. I've been told it's from the glue exanding in the heat or could be from slamming the tailgate...which I don't really do.
This was all done before I learned how to fiberglass, so now I need help. Should I try and get all the bondo out, leave the truck panel in, sand everything down and try to fill the once-bondoed gap with fiberglass or should I tear out the panel and make my own out of fg? Also wondering how to have the glass bond best with my fiberglass tailgate.... I was thinking maybe holes to allow the resin to seep through and keep it in place...
