I have a craftsman and they havnt done lifetime warranties on them in quite some time. I think it has a 3 year warranty on electric tools

i have that one too, paid $199, great saw, i have built many boxes with it now, the best part is that it rips up to 30"

IMO if you plan on doing alot of building, try and save up around $500ish and get yourself a better tablesaw that will rip at least 36"

30" rippign is good enough, most boxes i build are not more than 30" tall, so if the width is greater than 30" i can just use a skillsaw. if you clamp a straight edge onto the board you are cutting and rip it with the skillsaw just as good as the tablesaw would

home depot has dome decent deals on ryobi(sp?) table saws... picked one up last night for $179 total after tax was 198...its nice...

hit the nail on the head here. Me and my buddy needed a tablesaw for boxes, but we were kind of hurting for money at the time. But there is no use paying for a table saw that will not do what you need it to do. In our case, We wanted something with a 36" rip capactiy, because a good majority of the boxes we build are between 30-36 inches. So we just nutted up and spent a little more than we wanted on a rigid tablesaw from home depot for like $550. It hurt the pockets a little, but it does everything we need it to do and it does it well. Moral of the story, if you plain on using it a lot, wait and get a good one. Trust me, you wont regret it.

that craftsman saw sucks, pretty much any of them under 200 are shit. ive used the craftsman u are talking of, and the wheels have fallen off, the fence does not clamp straight and its just flimsy.

IMO i dont want a flimsy tool that spins ANYTHING at 5000rpm or whatever TOWARDS me.
