System cuts out

I have a 1600 watt max amp for my subs, a 500 watt max amp for my mids/high, and a crossover. I just installed it all recently and i cant seem to figure out why every so often, the bass and mids/highs cuts out but only for few seconds. It sounds like a distorted fade and then comes back. I thought it was a power issuse so I got a 1.0 farad capacitor, charged it, and it didnt help much. Any suggestions??

check the connection on your remote amp wires, if it's a bad connection the amp will turn off sometimes

any chance its RCA? cuz the amp doesnt exactly turn off, it just fades distortedly ...

Probably your ground.

Your amp does not have to turn off for you to have a bad ground. The amp will fade in power if your ground is not good. As the ground wire heats up (from any number of reasons (it is normal)) the resistance will change. This could cause the amp to fade out when it is drawing a large amount of power.

how good is your electrical system? maybe it's not delivering the current it needs, but check your grounds first.

I unhooked my ground, sanded away the paint (that i didnt realize was there until i examined it), and hooked it back up ... problem solved. Thanx guys

ok I just put a new amp in the wifes car and it seems to do something close to this, any way it only does it with the a/c running and when you hit the brakes to stop at a light or something, shes geting mad and im anoyed beyond. sounds great hits hard and sounds clean until you stop then it fades out sounds all distorted. I have thought it could be one of three things 1. power and ground are 8 ga this however should not matter amps not that big. 2. the ground like above. or 3. the wireing harness for the deck is junk last time i had the deck out the wires in the plug where **** near falling out, like pulled out of the plastic piece sorry for the long post please give me an idea
