Swr-1242D amp power question

I have a single 4ohm Swr-1242D sub and would like to know the best options with the amps i have. both configurations are using single channel amps.

1) 1 amp 500watt rms amp @ 2ohm feeding both side of woofer

OR

2) 2 amps 480 watt rms @ 4ohm feeding each side of woofer

(if the woofer can handle it as it states 500rms/1500peak)
