Switch works but doesn't turn amp on/off

Long story short doing DIY project. I have a small switch hooked up to an amp to turn it on and off. The switch is connected to the positive(power) on the amp and the P.Conn(remote start). The amp stays on all the time and using the switch doesn't do anything. The switch works because I tested it on a flashlight. The amp works because.. well it stays on. Is it still possible that something is wrong with the P.Conn? Thanks

Either you wired the switch wrong, or the amp is bad. Disconnect the remote turn-on connection from the amp, does it shut off? If it shuts off then you wired the switch wrong.

P.conn is what Kenwood calls a remote turn-on. He is using a switch to manually turn the amp on and off.
