Survey for Pioneer HU fans

Just picked up a Pioneer DEH 980 BT to replace my useles 9886 that was the last in a long line of de-contented Alpine HUs I wasted money on. I am loving this thing so far. Just using the factory setting for both front seats for the time alignment feature and and the built in 'natural' EQ setting for the 16 band graphic has made a tremendous difference in my sound. The Bluetooth is crystal clear and the IPOD controls are excellent.

Here is my question:

BBE: Who uses it and who doesn't touch it, and why. I am starting to get a good understanding of it but in general am reluctant to keep it on too much right now. I notice each increase in BBE level gives me a more intimate and more detailed soundstage but there's more loudness at certain frequencies so I'm assuming it's a sort of 'boost. And once I go past a certain level my bass becomes... disjointed. Normal drums in a normal place in the soundstage then the really deep aspects are right in the middle of the car. Not sure how I like that yet. Right now I occasionally turn it on and keep it at zero or 1 for just the right effect.

Just wonderin what everyone else thinks of it. Worthless crutch, right up there with bass and treble boost and loudness, or useful tool in moderation?

i have it and almost never use it.. if i do use it, its kept at 1.. but i have an alpine.. and after volume 22.. it doesnt have the same affect it does from 1-21.. i cant explain it, but im sure others know what im talking about

i havent found a dsp i liked yet.
