super bass eq

Hey guys,

I set the gain on my Alpine mrp-m500 amp which is wired to my single 12" type r. I set the gain with basically everything off (loudness, bass boosts, eq to flat) and my SLA at 4. My new max volume is 46.

So my question is, can i safely turn on my super bass eq setting? I would not turn my volume all the way up to 46 if i put it on (prob like 35-40 max). I dont wanna ruin anything however.

Because my type r doesnt seem to be hitting very hard unless i turn on the super bass eq....my gain on the amp is half way at the "nominal" position (this just happened to be the place where my knob ended up when i reached my desired voltage while setting the gain)

thanks

Go back and readjust the amplifiers gain with all the setting at your desired level or setting (with the most extreme song you may listen too) the radio volume at 85 – 90 %

Then adjust amplifier gain to clip or distortion threshold

However the super bass mode on most radios, will always over do it

I would try just the bass level setting first

would the superbass eq setting cause clipping if the volume was like at 30-35 max out of 46 and i listened to some hard hitting songs? For some reason my type-r isnt too loud unless i turn superbass on....maybe its becasue i set the gain with my SLA all the way up (4)?

the first time i set my gain it was with my SLA at 0.....my gain knob came out to be turned much higher than it came out to be when i set the gain with my SLA at 4....however after the first time i set my gain (with SLA at 0) i ended up turning it all the way up later cause it made my music out of the stock speakers louder....which is why i reset my gain later on with it already at 4

Im just not sure how to go about getting the loudest bass without clipping

Reset with everything where you're probably gonna have it set most of the time or keep it as is, use boost judiciously, and stay well off your normal maximum volume.

i am just using the custom eq settings and tuning it to taste instead of using superbass eq setting. I think i got it where i like it...im not using any other boosts (other than SLA but i set my gain with that up) so i should be fine i believe.
